Hue City, Vietnam
Hue City was the Capital of Vietnam for 143 years under the Nguyen Dynasty, from 1802 till 1945 before Ho Chi Minh started Communist Government and moved the Capital of the Country to Hanoi.
Before 2nd century, this area was dominated by Chinese until 192 when local people defeated Chinese and started the first nation here named Lin Y. From the 4th century, this area was the land of Champa Kingdom until 1306 when Champa King marriage Vietnamese Princes and gave this area to Vietnamese as the wedding gift.
During Vietnamese Civil War (1558 – 1789), the Nguyen Lords controlled this region while Trinh Lords controlled the North Vietnam. Le Kings were only puppet to Trinh and Nguyen Families.
In 1789, Nguyen Hue defeated Nguyen and Trinh Families to start a new Dynasty named Tay Son Dynasty, but Nguyen Anh from Nguyen family still survived and later in 1802, he came back and defeated the Tay Son dynasty to start the Nguyen Dynasty. He became the first King of the Nguyen Dynasty and Hue officially became the Capital for the whole country.
From 1802 to 945 when Hue was the Capital of Vietnam, we had 13 Emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty to rule the Country. But late French came to occupy the country from 1858 and in 1883, French took over the whole country after Tu Duc Emperor died.
In 1945, Nguyen Dynasty ended by Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi was chosen to be the Capital for the whole country - Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
