Hue City, Vietnam
Hue Vietnam History: Hue Royal City is well-known as one of the most attractive destinations in Vietnam with many World Cultural Heritage Sites built by the Nguyen's Lords (1558 - 1789) and Nguyen's Emperors (1802 - 1945). This was the Capital of Vietnam for 143 years under the Nguyen Dynasty, from 1802 till 1945 before Ho Chi Minh started Communist Government and moved the Capital of the Country to Hanoi.
Before 2nd century, this area was dominated by Chinese until 192 when local people defeated Chinese and started the first nation here named Lin Y. From the 4th century, this area was the land of Champa Kingdom until 1306 when Champa King Che Man (or Red King) marriage Vietnamese Princess (Huyen Tran Princess or Huyền Traan Công Chúa) of the Tran Dynasty, and gave this area (Châu Ô and Châu Lý) to Vietnamese King as the wedding gift.
During Vietnamese Civil War (1558 – 1789), the Nguyen Lords controlled this region while Trinh Lords controlled the North Vietnam. Le Kings were only puppet to Trinh and Nguyen Families. Phu Xuan (Hue nowady) became the headquarter for 9 Lords of the Nguyen Family to fight again the Trinh Family (based in Thang Long - Hanoi nowaday).
In 1789, Nguyen Hue defeated Nguyen and Trinh Families to start a new Dynasty named Tay Son Dynasty, but Nguyen Anh from Nguyen family still survived and later in 1802, he came back and defeated the Tay Son dynasty to start the Nguyen Dynasty. He became the first King of the Nguyen Dynasty and Hue officially became the Capital for the whole country.
From 1802 to 945 when Hue was the Capital of Vietnam, we had 13 Emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty to rule the Country. But late French came to occupy the country from 1858 and in 1883, French took over the whole country after Tu Duc Emperor died.
After the 2nd World War, on the Aug 30th 1945, King Bao Dai (Vua Bảo Đại) abdicated and the Nguyen Dynasty ended by President Ho Chi Minh. On the Sep 2nd 1945, Hanoi was chosen to be the Capital for the whole country named Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
