Hue to Da Nang & Hoi An by Train: Schedule & Ticket Price
Hue to/from Da Nang & Hoi An by Train is one of the best spectacular and cost-effective routes to enjoy the country’s natural beauty. This train ride follows the Hai Van Pass on one side and winds through the steep cliffs overlooking the East Sea on the other. Hoi An Ancient City does not have train station and the country train’s system does not run through this ancient city. Da Nang Railway Station is the nearest train station to Hoi An that the train can get to. Therefore if you would like to travel from Hue to/from Hoi An by train, you have to get down at Da Nang Raiway Station first, and from there to Hoi An you choose other modes of transportation such as grab car, metered taxi, local public bus or motorbike. The train ride from Hue to/from Hoi An (via Da Nang City) takes around three hours and travels along the coast and through the Hai Van Mountains in Central Vietnam. Getting from Da Nang Train Station to Hoi An Ancient Town: After you arrive to Da Nang Train Station, you can travel to Hoi An with some choices of transfer methods:
- By Taxi: The most convenient mode of transportation is by taxi, which is easily accessible outside the train station. Bear in mind of the well-established brands such as Mai Linh Taxi, Vinasun Taxi, and Tien Sa Taxi, which are green, white, and yellow, respectively. Check that the meter is operating before leaving the station, or you can bargain and agree on a fixed price. Typically, a taxi ride from the Da Nang railway station to Hoi An town is approximately 300,000 VND – 450,000 VND ($15 to $23) and it takes around 45 minutes, depending on the traffic situation.
- Local Bus: Another option to get to Hoi An from Da Nang train station is to take the local bus. However, the bus to Hoi An is not located at or near the train station, so if you want to take the local bus, take a taxi from the train station to the city bus station, which is about a 10-minute drive away. The bus fare is relatively low at 18,000 VND ($0.8), and the trip takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The bus will arrive at Hoi An Bus Station, from where you can either walk to the town centre or hire a motorbike taxi (xe ôm) to your booked hotel. Remember to haggle the price with them.
- By Motorbike: Traveling by motorcycle is the most exciting mode of transportation since it provides the greatest flexibility and independence on the road. It is without a doubt the favourite mode of transportation for Vietnamese residents. The road from Da Nang to Hoi An is quite straight, flat, and easy to follow. Because traffic is less congested here than in major cities such as Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, driving is more pleasant. Not to mention, you can explore then travel around the area at your own pace and comfort.
Motorbike rental cost range from 100,000 VND ($4.3) to 200,000 VND ($8.7) each day, depending on the sort of bike you desire. If you rent for a week or more, they may give you a discount. Most rental companies in Da Nang will have their motorcycles delivered to you at the railway station, so you may call ahead, rent ahead, and schedule a pickup time.
