In order to make his coffee, Mr Nguyen Van Giang (a Bartender of Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel in Hanoi) had to find an alternative ingredient, which is egg yolk. After the patrons began to be awed by his newly created drink, he decided it was high time to quit his job and open up his own shop in 1946. That was how Vietnamese Egg Coffee started.

While it may not be the fanciest cafe, Dinh Cafe will surely bring you a cup of egg coffee in its most authentic flavor.

4.1 Prepare Ingredients for Vietnamese Egg Coffee:

  • 1 chicken egg
  • 3 teaspoons of Vietnamese coffee powder
  • 2 teaspoons of sweetened condensed milk
  • Boiling water

4.2. Directions of How to Make Traditional Egg Coffee:

  • Brew a small cup of Vietnamese coffee with coffee maker
  • Crack an egg and separate the yolk from the whites. Discard the whites.
